International Programs

CBMM faculty members have developed close ties with international institutions through research collaborations, co-sponsored seminars and workshops. Our current partners include A*Star, City University – Hong Kong, The Hebrew University in Jerusalem, Italian Institute of Technology (IIT), Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics, Tübingen and National Center for Biological Sciences in Bangalore, University of Genoa and the Weizmann Institute of Science.

CBMM’s goal is to deepen these connections so that they grow to include a study abroad opportunity for the Center’s postdocs, to support visiting scholars and scientist from our international partners at Center labs, and to joint meetings held at partner institutions which will rapidly spread the advances gained at CBMM.

Towards this goal the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT), in collaboration with Prof. Tomaso Poggio (MIT), has established the Laboratory for Computational and Statistical Learning (LCSL), which is hosted in the McGovern Institute for Brain Research at MIT. The aim of LCSL is to advance the frontiers of learning theory and machine learning, while building algorithmic tools for the analysis of complex systems and high dimensional data. LCSL and CBMM co-sponsored the Workshop on “Learning Data Representation: Hierarchies and Invariance”  in November 2103.
