Dr. Farahnaz Wick, a cognitive scientist from the MIT Center for Brains Minds and Machines, will discuss how we pay attention to the bustling world around us. Dr. Wick is a postdoc working with Profs. Gabriel Kreiman (Harvard Medical School) and Jeremy Wolfe (Visual Attention Lab, Harvard U.)
Speaker bio: Farahnaz received her Ph.D. in Computer Science at the University of Massachusetts, Boston, where she worked with Marc Pomplun. Her dissertation topic was top-down and bottom-up biases in visual attention. As a postdoctoral fellow in Visual Attention Lab, Farahnaz continues investigating attentional mechanisms involved in scene perception, multiple identity tracking and visual working memory.
